About This Year's Charity

the-childrens-home-pgh-logo.png

The Children’s Home of Pittsburgh helps hundreds of children and families each year.

We provide critical programs and services needed by some of the most vulnerable members of our community, right here in our backyard.

Your donations directly support our patients and families by:

  • Ensuring NO family leaves our hospital with a bill, regardless of the amount received from insurance.

  • Providing free overnight accommodations in our comfortable family living areas

  • Each family meeting with our Social Work team to identify any social determinants

  • Providing families with Aldi’s and Giant Eagle gift cards to assist in purchasing food while they are staying with us

  • Assisting families with transportation to and from the hospital (gas cards, bus passes, cab vouchers, Lyft rides, etc.)

  • Assisting families with identifying safe housing, paying outstanding utilities, and catching up on bills

  • Providing families with needed supplies and equipment (clothing, diapers, formula, pack n’ play, car seats, medical supplies, etc.)

  • Providing daycare scholarships for Child’s Way, our daycare for medically fragile children

  • Providing scholarships for specialty assessments, interventions, therapies, and counseling

  • Providing free birthparent counseling and support group activities for adoptive families, and so much more

We work with each family to identify their individual needs by meeting them where they
are.

We are an independent non-profit and are not affiliated with any other healthcare institution.

We rely on the support from our community as we continue to provide over $4 million in charitable care annually, right here in Pittsburgh.

About OWO

We look forward to seeing everyone out on the course again this year for the 16th Annual Open Wide Open!

This year's event will take place on Friday, June 7th, 2024 at Pittsburgh National Golf Club in Gibsonia, PA and will benefit The Children's Home & Lemieux Family Center.

Founded in 2009, the Open Wide Open has raised over $220,000 for local non-profits: Every Child, Inc. Boys and Girls Clubs of Western Pennsylvania, The First Tee of Pittsburgh, Manchester Bidwell, Best Buddies, The Woodlands Foundation, FreeStore 15104, Muriel's Breath of Life, Orange Arrow, Jeremiah's Place, Spenser's Voice Fund, Beverly's Birthdays, Knead Community Café, and Jake's Way.

Strong participation and support was instrumental in making our events a complete success, so we are reaching out to you in hopes that you will align with us for yet another year of success for another great cause!

The golf event is in a four person scramble format with a 11am shotgun start. The festivities will include lunch as well as an all-you-can-eat buffet dinner, and a silent auction. Non-golfers are invited to attend the dinner and silent auction for a separate donation.

We are looking forward to spending the afternoon with you, enjoying friends, and raising money to support the cause. Based on previous years’ success, we are expecting a great turnout for the 16th annual outing. Our players are men and women of all ages who live and work throughout the Pittsburgh-metro area. There is also a strong business contingency to our guest list, which makes The Open Wide Open a great opportunity for you to directly communicate your products or services, as well as showcase your support of the community we call home.

Please see the Sponsorship page for participation and sponsorship levels. The Open Wide Open is a non-profit public, volunteer-run corporation so your donation is tax deductible. Any level of support you or your company can contribute would be greatly appreciated.
